9AUG05 - Bald Eagle

I noticed the eagle yesterday sitting in a tree that was killed by a forest fire. It was waiting to eat carrion - a rather large deer that I assume that wolves killed the night before. The background was cloudy but the sun was shinning through a break in the clouds which provided the interesting lighting. I kept slowly walking up to the eagle, stopping, taking photos and getting closer and closer - all the while scanning to see if there were any nearby grizzly bears or other major predators. Fortunately because of the fire burnt forest there was good visibility and no danger was to be seen.

Jeroen - Wow... Stupid thing is that I know these animals from the Discovery Channel and from Stockphoto books. Living in a city sometimes makes me forget that there are people living in places where you can see real animals like these.
